Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque is the one stop on the Abu Dhabi city tour with rules attached. Entry is free, but the mosque enforces a dress code at the gate and turns away visitors who arrive in the wrong clothes.
Women need hair, arms and legs covered in loose clothing, with a headscarf. Bring your own scarf rather than counting on the loan counter, which runs out at busy times. Men need long trousers and sleeves that cover the shoulders — no shorts, no vests, and no shorts-length trousers.
